Winter Maintenance
The Anzac Day (unofficial) long weekend is the end of the busy tourism season, and it’s a great time to get all those maintenance jobs done.
Holiday homes have been heavily used for 6 months and are showing signs of wear and tear.
Here is a list of jobs that should be part of your off-season maintenance schedule. They do need to be done, but they don’t need to be done in spring when tradies are crazy busy.
Gutter cleans. When the last of the leaves have fallen in Autumn, it’s time to get your gutters thoroughly cleaned out so they function properly. Gutters full of vegetation rust very quickly so doing this job on a regular basis prevents expensive repairs in the future.
Drain cleans. Get your storm drains and grates cleaned out to prevent surface level water damage.
Filter cleans. Air Conditioners, split systems, washing machines, dishwashers, dryers, and range hoods work so much better when the filters are cleaned at least once a year.
Roof repairs. Simple jobs like replacing rusty roofing screws and re-siliconing tin roofs, can extend the life of roofs significantly.
Merbau decking. Winter is a great time to freshen up your deck. The tannins in this type of timber takes 4-5 months to leach out. When this process has finished, it’s time to stain the new deck, making it look spectacular just before summer guests arrive.
